This review is from: Fotodiox Dedicated (Bayonet) Lens Hood, for Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens as Canon ET-83c (Electronics) This is the perfect replacement item for a lens hood lost in a ridiculous way... I was changing lenses in the Everglades, trying to get a clever shot of a basking alligator. I placed the lens hood on my lap and it rolled off, rolled in slo-mo towards the water's edge, and plopped into the drink right in front of said alligator... Needless to say, I did not wade in to retrieve it! Thanks for having the perfect replacement at a reasonable price! I returned it and bought the "Fotodiox 3-Section Rubber Lens Hood , 77mm" instead. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. This review is from: Fotodiox Dedicated (Bayonet) Lens Hood, for Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens as Canon ET-67 (Electronics) though it arrived with in the delivery estimates, I was put down by the quality of the hood. Doesnt fit the lens properly..is bit loose and shakes while using the camera having the hood attached to the lens. Not recommended.
